OVERVIEW Dave’s life before Tango consisted of participating, learning, and training in personal growth/ human potential technologies. Professionally, as a body-centered psychotherapist, life coach, author and presenter, Dave developed his own in-depth synthesis of how to make dramatic changes in life and business. On November 3rd, 2005 Dave started dancing & training Argentine Tango. Within three weeks he knew Tango would be huge in his life and within 3 months he knew it was to become his life – and it did for over 4 years. Since beginning Tango, Dave averaged over 35 hours each week, applying his synthesized technologies of human potential psychology to learn at an accelerated rate. BODY-BASED SKILLS Dave has trained in physical movement and teaching as a professional ski instructor, martial artist and active participant of other physical skill-based endeavors and movement modalities such as Feldenkrais, Yoga, soccer, swimming, running, rock climbing, kayaking and backpacking. Dave offers his diverse experience in learning and training body-based skills to his Tango students. BODY-PATTERN PSYCHOLOGY More importantly, through over 17 years as a professional body-centered psychotherapist with a Masters in Psychology, Dave learned to assist each individual to identify what was going on in their body that needed to be addressed. This led to dramatic shifts/ changes in people’s lives, and an acceleration in achieving/ realizing their life dreams. It takes a lot to identify and understand how to unlock pattern holding /movement patterns in the body. This ability to shift how a person moves in space is amazing for training new skills in Tango. LIFE SKILLS PRESENTER In addition, Dave furthered his methodologies and strategies of accelerated learning through his experiences as a professional life-coach, speaker, workshop creator and facilitator of life skills. Dave takes his teaching skills into Tango as fun exploration of what is at the crux of dancing better. His Tango workshops are organized, well thought out, and practiced to accelerate the learning of all participants. LEARNING THROUGH INJURIES/ SURGERIES Lastly, Dave has undergone several injuries, surgeries and physical challenges during his Tango career including a major back injury, arthroscopic hip surgery and 2 hip-replacement surgeries. These experiences helped Dave understand the effects of injuries on Tango, how to recover through Tango, dance during recovery, and become stronger while dealing with pain and physical limitations. Dave has found that his working knowledge and unique perspective on dealing with physical limitations, challenges, and pain has strengthened his ability to accelerate learning. NATIONAL INSTRUCTOR/ DJ Nationally, Dave shares his infectious enthusiasm of Tango through writing, training, teaching, DJ’ing and of course dancing. INFLUENTIAL TEACHERS Dave has participated in many visiting instructor workshops, including several classes at festivals. He has studied privately with instructors locally, nationally and in Buenos Aires. Nationally he counts Murat & Michelle Erdemsel, Alex Krebs, Guillermo Merlo & Fernanda Ghi, Florencia Tacetti, James Friedgen, Homer & Christina Ladas as influences in his Tango study.
